New housing complex won't open until April

Snags with the City of Houston have resulted in the decision to delay the opening of new student housing near the University campus.
The remodeling of the University Park Residential Student Housing is under way, but is being held back because of occupancy and restaurant permit requirements that were not up to par for the city.
"We felt like it was in the best interest to hold (the opening) until all requirements are met," said David Ward, managing partner of the property.
The 200-room housing complex, located next to the Finger's furniture store on Interstate 45 just west of Cullen Boulevard, will not be open to students until late April, he said.
Certain portions of the seven-building complex can be opened safely to students, Ward said, but management felt it would not be able to serve students properly without all the facilities open.
Quite a few students have shown interest in applying for housing in the complex, Ward said. Units will be furnished and will have all expenses paid.
"We are excited about the property and are planning to be opening for
the summer," Ward said.
