So this is Christmas: The Galleria buzzes with afternoon shoppers searching for last-minute gifts Tuesday as Houston prepares to celebrate the Holiday season. The University will be on break from Dec. 23 to Jan. 2.
Williams Tower climber was member

The scene had onlookers glued to Williams Tower and made the front page of newspapers across the country, but a climber’s attempt to scale the building hit the University a little closer to home. Ryan Hartley, 20, died Monday when he let go while climbing the 900-foot building in the Galleria area after reaching the 26th floor. Hartley was a sophomore philosophy major at UH.

About an hour into the new Lord of The Rings movie, The Two Towers, just as Pippin Took and Merry Brandybuck are meeting up with Treebeard, it dawned upon this reviewer that this was not a new movie at all. If it was, it would merit a new review, but this was just one gigantic nine-hour movie with five hours to go.

Monday, I came across an extremely interesting editorial in the Houston Chronicle written by Pulitzer-Prize-winning columnist William Raspberry. Raspberry, an African-American, wrote about the "blame game" he feels African-American parents play concerning the academic progress of their children. The column hit close to home for me, as I could not have identified with it more.

Briles is talking about winning and losing and getting the football program where it needs to be, while the department is talking about dollars and cents.
