UH junior pitcher wins local honor

UH junior infielder and pitcher Kevin Roberts was named the Greater Houston Area's Preseason College Player of the Year by the Houston Athletic Committee, which will officially award Roberts in January.
Roberts led the Cougar bats with a .374 average and ranked among the team's top three players in all Triple Crown categories with six home runs and 31 RBIs.
Roberts got bumped into the pitching rotation during the 2003-2004 season when injuries benched several of the Cougar's starters. Roberts didn't disappoint, finishing second among pitchers with 67 strikeouts.
He was one of only two Cougars to receive a postseason honor when he earned a place on the Conference USA All-Tournament Team.
