As the UH campus re-opened Monday on the first business day of the new
year, concerns over how the University's computers would react to any Y2K
glitches proved unfounded. "So far today, we've received zero calls on
desktop systems," Steven Green, Year 2000 Project office manager, said
Monday afternoon.
All eyes are on the UH College of Optometry's Texas Eye Research and
Technology Center, which gives students and faculty members the opportunity
to become involved in research and development of optometry products.

students teach classes as part of their last two semesters of study, help

M. Basketball unable to claim victory over UConn, Texas The UH basketball team knew it had its hands full heading into last
week. First came Connecticut -- the defending national champion, currently
ranked No. 2. Then, on Sunday, UH traveled to Austin for an intrastate
battle with No. 18 Texas -- the defending Big 12 champ. Chopped liver they
are not.
Heated contests give hoops fans a glimpse of what's to come UH basketball fans had the opportunity to peer into the crystal ball
last week to see what hoops life on campus may be like in the near future.
And it looks like they have a lot to get excited about when it comes to
their men's basketball team in the coming years.
UH baseball ranked No. 6 by Baseball America For the second time in three weeks, the UH baseball team was able to
crack the Top 10 in a national baseball magazine preseason poll. This time
it was Baseball America, which ranks UH higher than any other Texas school
at No. 6 in the country.
W. Basketball comes away with split at Holiday Classic The Lady Cougars suffered a loss to No. 3-ranked Louisiana Tech 94-49 in the first round of the State Farm Holiday Classic on Dec. 28 and 29, but defeated Southeastern Louisiana 70-66 to bring their record to 2-8 on the season. |
