Volume 2, Issue 3 University of Houston UH baseball ranked No. 6 by Baseball America Cougar Sports Services For the second time in three weeks, the UH baseball team was able to crack the Top 10 in a national baseball magazine preseason poll. This time it was Baseball America, which ranks UH higher than any other Texas school at No. 6 in the country. Baylor came in at No. 10, Rice at No. 14 and Texas at No. 15. The Cougars also garnered attention in December from Collegiate Baseball magazine, which placed UH in its No. 10 slot. UH returns all eight position players and four members from the starting rotation of last year's squad, which compiled a 40-24 record and won its first regular season conference championship in 39 years. The Cougars hosted an NCAA Regional and finished the year ranked 24th in the nation. The 2000 season gets underway Feb. 4 in Austin when the Cougars travel
to Disch-Falk Field to battle the Texas Longhorns and kick off a three-game
weekend series.
