Volume 2, Issue 1 University of Houston Athletics department brings in new additions From Staff Reports The University of Houston Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Dec. 7 the hiring of new administrators in the areas of compliance and marketing/promotions. Bill Regan assumes the role of assistant athletics director for compliance, replacing James Bandy, who resigned earlier this fall. Regan comes to UH from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, where he worked for one year in the same role. A 1988 graduate of State University College at Buffalo, Regan also received his masters in sports administration from Canisius College and his law degree from the University of Akron School of Law. Regan began his professional career as an assistant city attorney for Lackawanna, N.Y., later becoming a partner in the firm of LeBlanc, Herrmann and Regan in Hamburg, N.Y. Regan switched over to intercollegiate athletics in June 1996, when he accepted a position as compliance, eligibility and student services assistant at the University of Buffalo. After spending one year in that capacity, Regan became Buffalo's assistant athletic director for compliance and student services, where he remained for one year before heading to NAU. Joining the UH Marketing and Promotions staff is Jessica Bettger. Bettger was recently named the department's assistant marketing director for promotions after spending more than two years as the ticket sales supervisor for the NFL's New Orleans Saints. While with the Saints, Bettger was integral in multiple sellout crowds, as well as planning and implementing ticket sales strategies. A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln,
Bettger spent almost three seasons working in the Nebraska Athletic Marketing
Department, serving as a non-paid intern as a student and then as a graduate
assistant for one year. Bettger also spent 1995 as both a support staff
member and United States Olympic Committee intern of USA Triathlon.
