Daily Cougar StaffComing off a down-to-the-wire 86-85 defeat to the Texas A&M Aggies, the Lady Cougars now need to win their last three games just to finish at 7-7 in the Southwest Conference.
Currently sixth in the SWC standings, Houston (11-12 overall) can finish no higher than fifth as the team heads into the final Dr Pepper SWC Postseason Classic to be played March 6-9 in Dallas.
The Cougars now travel to Waco's Ferrell Center to face the Baylor Lady Bears (10-17, 2-10 in the SWC), who are coming off a 65-53 defeat to the Texas Lady Longhorns.
In their first meeting of the season, the Cougars took advantage of Baylor's poor shooting (37.8 percent from the floor), and shot 46.8 percent in the 83-65 victory.
It was Pat Luckey's night at Hofheinz Pavilion as she single-handedly split the Bears' defense, scoring 34 points on 13-of-25 from the field, and added 11 rebounds.
Both of Baylor's SWC victories have come against the last-place Texas Christian Lady Frogs (2-21, 0-12 in the SWC).
Junior forward Tonia Harris leads the Bears with a 12-points- per-game scoring average.
