Daily Cougar StaffWhen the Cougars take the field against the Oklahoma Sooners at 6:35 p.m. today in Norman, Okla., for their own sake, hopefully they are well rested.
The three-game series will begin a stretch of nine games in 12 days.
The other two games in the series are at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The Cougars haven't played since Sunday, when they suffered an 11-3 loss to Texas A&M.
The game against Lamar scheduled for Tuesday night was postponed because of poor weather conditions.
"That should help us more than hurt us," said Houston coach Rayner Noble. "It gave a lot of our guys a chance to rest, especially our pitchers."
Houston has been spectacular at the plate, with nine players batting at least .300.
Their pitching has struggled, however, with no one having less than a 3.78 ERA, and a team average ERA of 5.84.
The Cougars have faced Oklahoma only once since Noble has taken over, a 4-3 Sooner victory last season.
"I know that in the past they have had good clubs," Noble said. "They haven't had as good a year this year."
