Pea-brainism
To the editor:
Just when I think Russell Contreras will write an intelligent article, he amazingly proves me wrong. I am responding to his April 15 column about the beatings of the illegal immigrants in Los Angeles.
Now, don't get me wrong. I do not advocate the senseless beatings. But I don't understand how pea-brained Russell can link the acts of equally pea-brained cops to Bob Dole and Pete Wilson. It seems to me that Russell is a repressed individual who takes advantage of a situation and tries to pin it on the "Republican hate mongers."
Well, Russell, I have news for you. It's not them who have created this climate of hatred. It is people like you who have this mentality that white conservatives hate minorities and that they are conspiring to get them out any way they can.
You say that you are for sending "illegals" back to England, France, Germany, etc. Get this through your head -- this is 1996, not 1910. You have to face the fact that the great majority of illegals are arriving from Mexico and Central America. Maybe you should think about that before you write yet another seemingly inept article.

After reading Adam Burns' article, "Pro baseball is boring" (April 9), I was reminded of George Will's statement that "baseball is like church -- many attend, but few understand."
