The Will will prevail
To the editor:
A buddy and I were pondering Jason Ginsburg's (April 23) article titled, "And this is what God wants?" If Ginsburg is shopping around the world, as it seems in his article, for a God that will bring an ample supply of peace to the world as he knows it, then he should not look at the actions of man, but look at the word of God.
Man does not define God and God's Will. Unfortunately humans, in our own arrogance, think we know what is best for the world and what is GOOD!
For example, the original sin was the attempt to know the difference between good and evil, with the intention of being like God.
We will have to agree with Ginsburg that there are people who use God's Will as an excuse to push forward their own agenda.
So where do we look for love, peace, grace, forgiveness, strength and direction -- the Jim Jones of the world or Jesus Christ?

Loose screws
To the editor:
Whether the Roseanne skit was not intended to make fun of African-American babies, that's the way it seemed to Crystal Brown and a lot of other people who are able to look beyond the blatantly obvious.
Any material that reflects negatively on African-Americans, whether it be directly or indirectly, intended or unintended, is unappreciated by the African-American community and can be seen as hurtful to its members.
The point is the skit lacked tact.
Second, Brown's point about Howard Stern had nothing to do with him saying the singer "sucked." His playing one of her songs with gunshots in the background is what Brown was referring to.
So, those who charge Brown with not having a clue are the ones I think who should check the score boards. They might find they are lacking, too.
