UH golf finishes third

The University of Houston golf team finished third out of 16 teams in the All-America Intercollegiate at the Pine Forest Country Club in Houston Saturday and Sunday.

The Cougars shot a 601 for the 36-hole tournament, finishing behind Texas A&M and tourney champion Alabama-Birmingham.

UH was led by Mike Brennan, who tied for sixth with a 4-over-par score of 148.

Alabama-Birmingham was led by individual champion Chris Devlin, who shot a 3-under 141.

UAB remains in Houston and will be one of the favorites for the Conference USA championship, which begins Tuesday in West Columbia with UH as the host.
