Danielle Fenderson, a 5-foot-8-inch guard from Jonesboro, Ga., signed a letter of intent to play with the Lady Cougars basketball team, Houston coach Jessie Kenlaw announced Wednesday.
Fenderson played for Mount Zion High School, where she averaged 20 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and eight steals this season, earning All-District and All-League honors her last two seasons.
Fenderson is the first commitment of the spring signing period for the Lady Cougars. Leslie Norrid, a 5-9 guard from Pocala, Okla. and Sharonda Lasseter, a 6-3 forward from Savannah, Ga., signed with UH during the fall signing period.
Kirby dismissed
Sophomore guard Timicha Kirby has been dismissed from the Lady Cougars and granted her release, Kenlaw announced Tuesday.
No specific reason was given for her release.
Kirby was the second-leading scorer and rebounder for Houston last season.
