The Houston Parks and Recreation Department has announced two events today to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
At the Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park, El Comité Patriótico Mexicano de Houston presents Cinco de Mayo, a celebration with mariachi musicians, interpreters and folklore dancers. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free. For information, call 520-3290.
And at Chimney Rock Park on the west side of the city, an arts-and-crafts display, indoor and outdoor games are sure to appeal to the kids. Featuring guest speaker Sylvia Royter, the celebration will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Platou Community Center in Chimney Rock Park, 11655 Chimney Rock. For information, call 729-1230.
