The Fulbright Program's 1998-99 competition cycle is about to be open to students, faculty and other scholars interested in exchanging ideas with scholars from other countries.

The program includes a variety of exchange plans and grants which allow individuals to teach, study and conduct research "to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries."

Selection of Fulbright participants is based on applicants' accomplishments and qualifications, but the ability and desire to exchange ideas and information with other cultures is also considered.

Information on applying for the Fulbright Program is available on the Internet at www.iie.org/fulbright/ (for students, faculty and other scholars) and www.cies.org (for faculty and professionals).

Those Web sites contain information on applications and deadlines, plus practice applications which users may print out.

Anyone interested in applying for the program will be able to pick up an official application packet from the Office of Academic Programs, Room 209, E. Cullen, in late June.
