The University of Houston obtained its best performance in the NCAA Golf Championships in 11 years on May 31.

The Cougars shot six over par 290 on Saturday to help them to an overall 24-over par and a ninth place-finish at Conway Golf Course in Lake Forest, Illinois. Houston was two strokes behind TCU and host Northwestern who were locked in a seventh place tie at the end of the tournament.

The last time UH performed this well in the NCAA Championships was in 1986, when it finished in fifth-place. Its next best was in 1987, when it finished 10th.
