In past weeks I have read feedback on SA's commitment or lack of commitment to this university. In some instances, SA has demonstrated a disregard for weekly meetings, coming unprepared or repeatedly tabling legislative bills.
Does this illustrate a sound body of government? Moreover, are we electing the right people?
SA members' lack of commitment reflects the lack of compassion to make this university great. I know all students are busy with daily routines in school, work, religion, etc., but SA officials should run for student government because they respect the integrity of the school, not because it looks good on their résumés.
The Daily Cougar or any other form of media does not unintentionally paint a picture of bad governing officials. The officials themselves that should take responsibility for their actions.
In my humble opinion, SA says one thing but has little to show for it. Therefore, to all recent members of SA and candidates running in this next election, remember why you ran and all the lofty goals you had for this university. Because it is never too late to change for the better the lives of students or faculty of this university.
And by all means, stay focused on your goals because you can make a difference. Maybe not soon, but if you are committed and you are willing to make sacrifices, it will happen, and your goals will be achieved.
To all the students at our university, if you want change then voice your opinion and vote. I am a concerned student who does care about the well being of his university and its integrity.
