Exceptional University of Houston staff and faculty members were honored Tuesday at the 1998 Staff Awards ceremony.
Receiving Staff Excellence Awards were academic advisers Arthur L. Lawrence and Mary J. Schulz and Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Barbara Tatum. Assistant Professor of Architecture Lannis Kirkland was also awarded for excellence.
Staff scholarships of $500 each were also awarded to Jennifer Bisset, Jeffrey Paul Drury, Jacquelyn Franklin, James H. Hall, Jessie Hargrove, Sidney Jasek, Kathleen Lechon, Rajesh M. Patel, Adriana Quintero and Jerry Raschke.
Those 10 recipients were chosen from a pool of 30 qualified applicants.
Distinguished Service Awards for 30 years of service at UH went to Ruby Banks, Jarry Booth, Lucrecia Cox, Hyland Packard, Coralie Somers and Larry Witte.
Recognized for 25 years of service were David Bell, Charli Dilbeck, Charlie Green, Angela Hunter, Edward Mayer, Gwendolyn Moore, Diane Murphy, Gloria Prince, Mosie Richmond, Louise Riley and Randolph Wilkin.
Awarded for 20 years of service were Dollie Adams, Albert Armand, Mary Benham, Fern Burgett, Maria Carrisales, Daniel Corpus, Pamela Forbes, Michael Gibbs, Ann Goodrich, Jacqueline Green, Etta Hamilton, David Hernandez, George Hess, Eslenora Jett, Brenda Jones, James Koncaba, Elwyn C. Lee, Lorraine Leno, Theresa Martin, Ciro Martinez, Paul McJunkin, Dickey Nill, Domitila Ramirez, Lavern Ratcliff, Deborah Richardson, Betty Roberts, Margareto Rosales, Guadelupe Salais, Hope Salazar, Miriam Strane, Mary Thompson, Barbara Ward and Samuel Wilson.
