The University of Houston College of Pharmacy introduced its spring 1998 graduating class to prospective employers from across the state at the Career Placement Expo held Wednesday and Thursday at the college's facility in the Texas Medical Center.
About 100 representatives from hospitals, retail pharmacies and research facilities came to Houston to meet and interview some 85 graduating Pharm.D. and B.S. pharmacy students.
"The convenience of interviewing here ... really takes away the nervousness," said Russell Krenek, a graduating B.S. pharmacy student.
Raquel Garcia, a third-year Pharm.D. student, agreed. "We don't have to deal with the stresses of going out and finding a job," she said.
In addition to meeting the students at the Expo, employers are provided with a directory listing the college's graduates which helps them locate potential employees based on their interests and experience.
