Shirts were flying and booties were shaking in the University Center Houston Room Thursday afternoon as several hundred students from the University of Houston and surrounding schools vied for a spot on Baywatch.
Participants competed to fill one female and one male walk-on part on the television show.
Round one consisted of "10 seconds of fame," in which each contestant got on stage and showed what he or she was made of. While many guys and gals just shook their groove things, some sang or acted out scenes from the show. Several male contestants bared their chests and briefs to show off their buff bodies, and a few females gathered their guts to show off their tops as well.
Judges then cut the contestant pool to 20 males and 20 females. In round two, they played a truth-or-dare-like game in which they either answered a question (like "Who is your favorite Baywatch character?") or danced with a hula hoop.
Five male and female participants were lucky enough to make it to round three of the auditions, where they were paired up to read a script from the show.
The winners (neither one a UH student) received an all-expenses paid trip to California to appear as extras on a Baywatch episode.
