LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Russ' reverse racism

Russell Contreras has once again resorted to his only line ... the so-called "race card". Therefore, I would like to check on a few of his points.

Frontier Fiesta, being an event based on a past which included racism I can believe. Frontier Fiesta as a purely racist event?

Pure BS, and even he should know better. Accordingly, should we not celebrate George Washington's birthday? Think carefully ... remember, he owned slaves, too. He also (lest we forget) treated them decently and freed them when he died.

Contreras missed the point of his own column when he spoke of the ones criticizing naïveté and the Gracie Saenz incident. Both criticisms were chastening his people for not being racist!

That's right, for Gracie Saenz to choose whom to support based on race rather than qualifications would be racist! Yet Russell wanted her to act in exactly this way and to mirror his own racist opinion.

You're right. You, regardless of your color, may write on whatever the heck you choose. Freedom of the Press and of Speech apply. However, grow up, look at your columns objectively, and "remove the plank from your own eye, that you may see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother's."
