Next Thursday, the University of Houston's Program for Excellence in Selling will hold a major recruiting and networking mixer for marketing majors and students enrolled in the new Marketing and Professional Selling program.
Representatives of more than 100 companies will visit the UH campus to meet students April 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Athletic/Alumni Facility's O'Quinn Great Hall.
The Sales Certification Program, which began in spring 1997, trains students to be effective, knowledgeable salespeople. Students complete classes in professional marketing and sales management and use the Sales Automation Lab, which trains them in advanced selling techniques and information technology.
"Our focus is on building basic communications skills that can be applied in business settings," said assistant professor Eli Jones, a full-time instructor in the College of Business Administration's marketing department.
Students attending the mixer must register and turn in a résumé by noon Wednesday, April 22 to Room 385 Melcher Hall. Business dress is required.
