The University of Houston baseball team completed a road sweep of the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles Sunday with a 17-5 victory.

The Cougars (30-23 overall, 18-6 Conference USA) remain a game behind conference-leading Tulane, which won its game on Sunday against St. Louis.

Left-handed pitcher Shane Nance, who received an invitation to play for the U.S. national team this summer, pitched a one-hitter in the series opener to help UH to a 3-1 win.

The Cougars held on for a 6-4 win in the middle game behind the relief work of Bryan Moore.
