Three C-USA teams receive votes for top 30

Marquette sophomore center Abbie Willenborg was named C-USA Player of the Week after averaging 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the Lady Golden Eagles' two conference wins.

She had 17 points and eight rebounds against University of North Carolina-Charlotte and 24 points and 11 rebounds against St. Louis.

Top 30?

The three best teams in C-USA received votes for the Associated Press top 25 women's basketball poll.

Memphis received 27 points, followed by Marquette and Tulane with 16 and 11, respectively.

All three teams have received votes throughout the season, but only Tulane has cracked the top 25.

Tennis News

The No. 31-ranked University of Houston women's tennis team (3-3) stopped a two-match losing skid with a 5-1 win at Tulsa on Sunday.

The Lady Cougars had lost consecutive road matches to Texas A&M and the University of Oklahoma before the win over Tulsa.

Houston will next play host to Texas Christian University on Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. at the UH Varsity Tennis Complex.

Swimming and Diving News

The Lady Cougars swimming and diving team improved its record to 5-6 with a 128-74 win over Northeast Louisiana last Friday in Monroe.

UH will next be in action at the National Independent Championships in Cincinnati Feb. 26-28.

The Numbers Game

Cincinnati's 70-61 win over Louisville last week broke an eight-year losing streak against UL.

Marquette has hit a three pointer in 152 consecutive games.

Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton won her 150th game when the Green Wave beat South Florida on Monday.

With 22 points against UH, Southern Miss junior guard LaShonda Smith has surpassed the 1,000 point total for her career.

Tuesday's Houston-Rice baseball game was postponed due to wet conditions. It will be played 6 p.m. today at Cameron Field.
