One of the chairs in the chair garden constructed last winter break was uprooted Tuesday night.

The chair was knocked over and broken, and the cement holding it down was torn up.

According to the University of Houston Police Department, it was not a case of vandalism but looked as though a cart or tractor hit the chair while cutting grass.

The exact source of the damage is still unknown.

Only one of the 97 chairs that make up the garden located at the corner of Elgin Street and Cullen Boulevard was damaged in any way.

The chairs were designed by New York designer Mary Miss and were installed last year during the winter break just outside of the baseball field.
