The University of Houston will hold the Texas Job Fair, the largest career fair ever held on this campus, Tuesday at the University Center.
Representatives from more than 100 companies will be on campus offering students a chance to market their skills and credentials.
This job fair represents a collaborative effort of Houston-area colleges and universities organized to collectively invite employers to meet and interview students.
The Texas Job Fair will be open to students from all majors and will provide a chance for students to learn about job opportunities and the general job market.
Graduating students seeking full-time work can take this opportunity to look for entry- level positions while other students can learn about part-time work, summer jobs and internships.
"It's really like a networking fair, and it's open to (everyone from) freshmen all the way to the graduate student," said Denise Woodard, UH central campus Texas Job Fair coordinator.
"This benefits the student a great deal because the student will know what is out there (and) what employers are seeking, and (that will) give them an edge in the job market," Woodard said.
The Texas Job Fair is organized for the state by the Houston Area Consortium of Career Counselors (HACCC), which is made up of 13 member schools including all the UH-System universities, The Art Institute of Houston, Houston Baptist University, Lamar University, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern University, A&M at Galveston and the University of St. Thomas.
"The Texas Job Fair provides a unique opportunity for students from a variety of disciplines and institutions to meet with an impressive group of employers," said Steve Markert, president of the HACCC.
"The quality of the fair is due in large part to the cooperative efforts
