According to preliminary reports, the UH System is slated to receive an overall 11.7-percent increase in funding under the 76th Texas Legislature's appropriations bills, but UH will not receive requested money that would have propelled the school to a Tier I research category. The summer season in Houston cannot commence without something going wrong. It just wouldn't be right. Some things never change. The same is the case with Harry Connick Jr.'s first big band album since 1991's Blue Light, Red Light. He has released two funk-fused albums, one in 1994 She and the other in 1996 (Star Turtle), as well as an album compiled of ballads in 1997 To See You. The UH golf team tied for eighth place at the 1999 NCAA Men's Golf Championships
played at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. The team's performance
allowed it to capture its third consecutive top-10 national finish with
a final-round score of 300.

New black-and-white street signs, like the one shown here at the Entrance 1 (University Drive) and Entrance 4 intersection, were placed to identify campus roads last weekend. These signs, along with new directional signage and building identification, are part of the University's plan to make the campus more accessible to visitors. Each street sign is topped with a red square that is emblazoned with the UH logo. |
