'My paycheck is this big ...'
Britney Spears sings to a sold-out Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Friday night. Spears' sophomore effort, Oops! ... I Did It Again, sold 1.3 million copies during its first week on music store shelves. With a recent streak of triple-digit temperatures and soaring heat indexes,
UH students have fared better than expected when it comes to coping with
the intense heat and humidity.
Houston's air quality -- the whole state's for that matter -- has come
under increasing scrutiny over the past few years. Various governmental
agencies and commissions have been studying the problem and trying to come
up with solutions. The Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission,
the agency in charge of coordinating efforts for the state, has been visibly
absent from public view for the past few months, like Keyser Soze in The
Usual Suspects (part myth, part reality), surfacing only occasionally
in the middle of dark, moonless nights when no one is around to question
it.
Trixie Zurbo (Emily Watson) works as an undercover guard at a lakefront
casino. She is definitely an outsider who is just getting used to her new
life.
