Adams
falls short of 2000 Olympics
Cougar Sports Services Cougar great Jenny Adams traveled to the Golden State -- California -- for a chance at the gold in Sydney. She fell short in her second attempt in Sacramento after not qualifying in the long jump competition earlier in the week. Adams, one of two collegians in the hurdles final, finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 12.98 seconds. She advanced earlier in the day with a time of 12.90 seconds in the semifinals. Adams earlier attempt at the Olympic team came when she finished eighth in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 2 1/2 inches.

File photo Her showing at the U.S. Olympic Trials concluded an outstanding outdoor campaign for Adams, who was the NCAA Outdoor Champion in the long jump and finished second at the NCAA Championships in the 100-meter hurdles after she broke her own school records during the outdoor season. Adams was one of five Cougars who competed in the Olympic Trials. Her teammate, senior Ifoma Jones, competed in the high jump while former All-American Sandra Glover, Dawn Glover and Michele Collins will compete in the Olympic Games for the United States. Glover won the 400-meter hurdles, while Burrell was
second in the long jump and Collins was third in the 400 meters.
