TKE investigated for hazing, theft reports Bowen will resign if A&M tragedy was school's fault Film Review: Girl, Interrupted |
"Even better than the real thing"
Song Ping, an MBA accounting major, sports her free pair of (fake) Oakley sunglasses after applying for a credit card at the University Center Wednesday. The sign on the left claims one can earn a free pair of Oakley sunglasses (which cost more than $100, on average) by simply applying for a credit card. The University has opened a formal investigation of alleged incidents
of hazing, alcohol and theft within the UH chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon
fraternity.
In an attempt to solve a difficult problem, bureaucracies will often
come up with "buzzwords," simple sound bites that they pretend are the
needed solution. These words are then often used like magical incantations
to ward off accountability and criticism. Among the most pernicious of
buzzwords currently in favor is "zero tolerance."
In June 1966, Rubin "Hurricane" Carter was forced to take a different
path from his intended one. A strong contender for the middleweight boxing
title, his dreams were destroyed when he, an African-American, was wrongfully
accused by racist cops of a murder in which three people were gunned down
at Lafayette Bar and Grill in New Jersey.
Lately, it's been tough watching the UH men's basketball team. The team plays so hard, but it just can't pull off the win. |
