Lady Coogs host tonight

Cougar Sports Services

The opposing schools will remain the same tonight when Cincinnati's Lady Bearcats follow their men-counterparts into Hofheinz Pavilion for a battle with the UH women's basketball team.

The Lady Cougars bring an overall record of 6-17 and a 3-10 conference mark. For the first time in 12 games, UH will actually split back-to-back games -- one at home and one on the road.

On Sunday, the Lady Cougars travel to Louisville for a matchup with the Cardinals.

But tonight, the focus is on Cincinnati, who carries a 12-11 mark into Houston and a 6-7 mark against C-USA opponents.

The Lady Bearcats are led by 5-10 forward Madinah Slaise. The senior out of Ohio leads the team in scoring with 19.1 points per game and also averages 5.6 rebounds a contest.

UC's key presence inside is sophomore forward Laura Wilder, who averages 7.2 boards along with her 9.1 point average.

The Lady Cardinals of Louisville should provide the better of the two UH opponents this weekend. UL is 14-10 on the year and 7-6 in C-USA play, thanks to the scoring punch that senior guard Jill Morton is providing this season. Her 17.4 points-per-game average leads the team, which is currently holding onto the third spot in C-USA's American division.

Sharonda Lasseter

Over the weekend, UH dropped both road games. Tulane (21-3, 10-3 in C-USA) provided the first blow with an 83-53 drubbing and Southern Mississippi (13-11, 7-6 in C-USA) followed with an 11-point win, 78-67 on Sunday.

Junior center ShaRonda Lasseter is on a hot streak for the Lady Cougars. She averaged 16 points, 6.5 rebounds and shot 78.9-percent from the field over the weekend.

Norma Noel

Junior Norma Noel is also playing well for the Cougars. Off the bench, she averaged 11.5 points per contest in 29 minutes of action. She was 7-for-10 from the field.

After this weekend's action, UH will play just one more game at home. University of Texas-Pan American invades Hofheinz Pavilion on Friday, Feb. 25.
