Godzilla meets Cougars: Students passing
by Melcher Gym stop to gawk at a three-story-high inflatable figure of
Godzilla on Thursday morning. Mary Naus, director of UH's Health Psychology
Research Group, bought the monster at a charity auction at the opening
of her hairdresser's new shop. Danny Hughes, a doctoral student in sports
and exercise psychology, brought in the monster to "bring attention to
our organization, the HPRG and to our research on breast cancer survival
issues." The group welcomes donations and new volunteers. For more information,

Student Government Association Senate members questioned UH
parking officials about their latest efforts to eliminate UH's parking
shortage during Wednesday's SGA Senate meeting.
Tuesday is the 20th anniversary
of the first report from the Center for Disease Control of what was then
a new, unknown infectious disease in the United States.
Did the makers of the rather lame
comedy What's the Worst That Could Happen? give the movie its name to help
critics beat up on it?
The Cougar golf team headed for
Durham, N.C., on Wednesday for the 2001 NCAA Championships. It was the
44th time since 1952 that UH had reached the NCAA Championship tournament.
With 16 national titles in the UH trophy case, the 2000-01 Cougars were
going for No. 17 and the first UH title since 1985.
