The circle of life: Seeming to symbolize
the ability of nature to bounce back after the torrential downpour of Tropical
Storm Allison, a bee collects pollen from flowers outside the Graduate

After nearly a year with the position vacant while the University
conducted a national search, Robert B. Wilson Jr. has been appointed as
the new chief of the UH Police Department. He begins the assignment July
23.
It is honestly beyond me to conceive how Perry could justify
such an act. He claims that Texas already does not execute the mentally
retarded. Yet, studies by the Death Penalty Information Center find that
Texas has executed six mentally retarded inmates since 1982. Two of those
executions were carried out during President Bush's term as Texas governor.
The best storytellers know that details specific to a certain
region or individual can evoke emotions common to all people and places.
In this vein, Tyler-bred, San Marcos-based Adam Carroll's songs are unmistakably,
brilliantly, blatantly about Texas and the lives that are led within its
borders.
The day of the 2001 NBA Draft is here, and it sports one of
the youngest recruiting classes in NBA history. Of the 100 men eligible
for the draft, nearly 50 are underclassmen.
