Cougar Football preps
squad for 2001
Cougar Sports Services
UH Football is up and running for the 2001
season. The newcomers reported for their first official day as a UH athlete
on Monday and the returnees hit the turf this afternoon for head coach
Dana Dimel.
After a less-than-brilliant inaugural season,
Dimel has gone over his entire program with a fine-tooth comb during the
offseason and recruited heftily from the state of Texas's
gridiron crop in the spring.
With the returning No. 2 national receiving
tandem (juniors KeyKowa Bell and Brian Robinson), senior receiver Orlando
Iglesias back from injury and the return of 2001 Conference
USA Preseason First Team defensive back
junior Hanik Milligan, UH is looking toward a winning football season with
a lot of night games.
The freshmen and new recruits started two-a-days
on Tuesday in the summer humidity of Houston. Today the veterans don cleats
and pads and teach the newbies a few tricks.
Football Media Day will be held Thursday
in the Athletic/Alumni Facility. Dimel and the Cougars will address the
press about the upcoming season and the changes made to the
squad and the coaching staff.
Two-a-days continue on Friday for the entire
UH team.
