Feast on video games

The Game Boy

Brandon H. Franks

The GB is in the house. Before Turkey Day I've got some games you should check out for the holidays.

First up is Final Fantasy IX from SquareSoft for the PlayStation. This is a fantastic story. The developers went back to smaller characters for this one. The fantasy element is pushed here more than in the last game. The card game rocks as well. If you want a good challenge and a fun adventure, this is where it's at. A+

Danger Girl from THQ is also for the PlayStation. This is a great spy adventure in which three good-looking characters help you through. This game is based on the comic book of the same name.

It's got very smooth graphics and awesome cut scenes. The weapons and objectives are the best to come along in a game like this. You'll definitely have fun with this one. A+

For the PC, we have Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Covert Ops Essentials from Red Storm Entertainment. This game takes a long time, especially if you go through the entire training disc. The graphics are pretty cool and the challenge is there, but it takes a long time to know exactly what to do and when to do it. B

For the Dreamcast there's Jet Grind Radio from Sega. This game blends rollerblading with graffiti, which makes for an incredible and crazy experience. Add the ability to do tricks and tag enemies and the game is an instant classic. The graphics are crazy cool and how the game progresses just rocks. A+

Also for the Dreamcast is Samba De Amigo, also from Sega. This is a fun game, especially with the Maracas controller. The graphics are very arcade-like and the music is nice and upbeat. There's even a ska version of "Take On Me" by A-ha. The challenge here is the rhythm. This is an awesome game to play with friends. A+

For Game Boy Color is a classic game from Nintendo, Mega Man. This game is hard, to put it simply, but the Game Boy Color enhances some of the game play (the game was originally black and white). Still, the game is addictive and could cure the boredom of that long road trip with the family. B-
