UH's Karate-Do club held
a free self-defense clinic Saturday in the University Center's World Affairs
Lounge. Sensei Kazumasa Yokoyama, standing, demonstrated one of the defense
techniques on Chris Doynof, a member of the club.
Thursday was an evening of recognition
for the annual Houston Alumni Organization, which distributed four Distinguished
Alumni Awards, two President's Awards and one Distinguished Service Award
at its 51st annual awards dinner.
I live my life in a perpetual
state of fear. The Man is after me. My editor in chief, Brandon Moeller,
is also hunted down by The Man. The nihilistic presence of The Man is but
one of the many things that keeps me in a constant state of cat-like readiness.

The country trio proved this brilliantly
during Friday's concert at the Compaq Center.
The UH women's volleyball team
entered the 2000 NCAA volleyball tournament with high expectations as they
faced No. 23 Texas A&M in the first round of the tourney. It was the
Cougars' 10th consecutive invitation and its 11th in 12 years.
