Historian addresses U.S. apprehension

The principles upon which the United States was founded, and the individuals who gathered at the First Continental Congress to attach their names to these ideas, exemplify lessons pertinent to the country's collective sense of apprehension after last fall's terrorist attacks, historian David McCullough said in a lecture Thursday
evening at the UH Hilton Hotel.
 

Perry offers plan to better schools

Launching a new education initiative Thursday at the UH Hilton Hotel, Gov. Rick Perry outlined a five-point plan for improving Texas public school education and continuing the progress educators call the "Texas Miracle."
 

Sparse crowd doesn't keep poets from sharing their work
 
Themes as diverse as cerebral palsy, army brats, the body, the soul and fatherhood were explored in Thursday night's session of Poetry and Prose, the UH Libraries/UH Creative Writing Program's reading series highlighting the works of UH faculty, students and alumni. Thursday's featured readers were three Ph.D. candidates in the creative writing program.
