Flying saucers: Mechanical engineering
technology senior Jeremy Lochte launches a flying disc during a demonstration
Monday near the technology building. Lochte and four other groups of UH
students will compete in a national design contest in which the group must
design a device that launches flying discs toward designated targets.
The Lady Cougars fell to the University
of Oregon 54-52 Wednesday night, losing in the finals of the Women's National
Invitation Tournament. The loss ended an outstanding season for the Houston
women's basketball team, which finishes 26-8 on the year.
The driving conditions in Houston
right now are horrible. There's construction everywhere, potholes all over,
bad roads, ill-timed lights and traffic jams. But all of these things pale
in comparison to the true danger of the roads: Houston drivers.
Now that all the awards shows
have passed, moviegoers will probably flock to the award-winning films.
Monster's Ball and A Beautiful Mind are sure to fill a few more seats and
Training Day will become a hot commodity at the local video store.
The UH softball team will face
its biggest task of the season as it looks to defeat No. 16 Conference
USA rival DePaul in a doubleheader at noon Friday in Chicago.
