SGA
fails to use communication
And the winner of the Student Government
Association's presidential election is ... not I, said the barfly. Despite
receiving hundreds upon hundreds of e-mails last week concerning my write-in
campaign for SGA president, and the tremendous amount of positive feedback
from the University community, I decided to drop my campaign because I
couldn't win anyway.
Columnist
looks at voucher debate
The current debate over school vouchers seems silly. It's understandable
for people who send their children to private school not to want to pay
again for public education their children are not using. Also, competition
added into any market can cause improvement. School vouchers sound real
good from this aspect, but what about the people who would get left behind?
Professors
influence students' views
I have had two professors so far in my
college career affect me and my way of thinking more than any of the others.
My views are pretty set as far as
ideology goes, but people, society and
the law are ever-growing creatures. My worldview has been profoundly changed
mainly by two magnificent
professors whom I may not always agree
with but have my utmost respect. Bob Buzzanco and Dr. Guadalupe San Miguel
are both history teachers who
take an activist progressive style into
their methods of teaching. I for one have never had my ideals stretched
more than in the classes of these two
professors.
