Dance the afternoon away: Dancers from
the Caribbean Student Organization perform Monday at the University Center
Arbor. The performance was part of Unity Day, the first day of Cougar Pride
Week.
It may have been lacking in grizzled
cowboys, six-shooters and showdowns at the corral, but this year's Frontier
Fiesta, held March 21 through 23, still offered more to participants and
revelers than previous events.
President Bush's decision to take
action under Section 201 of the Trade Act of 1974 to protect the steel
industry precipitated an expected deluge of outrage from economists, Wall
Street Journal opinion writers and various interests, despite a unanimous
ruling from the U.S. International Trade Committee endorsing such measures.
All of the detractors lambasted the president as weak and politically self-serving,
which is far from the truth. The decision was a principled compromise made
with the best interest of the country in mind.
The underground Anti Pop Consortium
convenes at the Engine Room this Wednesday. Hailing from New York City,
the trio formed in 1997 with the
motto "Disturb the Equilibrium," establishing
a mission to counter ignorance in rap.
The Houston baseball team fell
to No. 7 from No. 5 in this week's Baseball America poll after going 2-2
last week, with two losses coming against
East Carolina.
