Towers,
maximum-security prison
I have suddenly become aware of certain
issues that I, as a student of this University and a resident of the Moody
Towers, feel must be addressed.
Machines
steal jobs from humans
I went to the grocery store yesterday
and saw something slightly horrible. I saw the future of this technology-reliant
society. What started me thinking
about this was the automated checkout
lanes where customers check out their own groceries. There were four of
these machines and only two real
live people working the other lanes. On
that particular evening, Kroger was employing more machines than people.
Maybe The Matrix isn't as farfetched
as we think.
