After reaching a near breaking
point, tensions along the India-Pakistan border are beginning to ease,
slightly dimming the possibility of a nuclear war. Students and faculty
on both sides of the conflict, are hopeful that through sincere dialogue
and a commitment to honor agreements the crisis can be defused and a lasting
peace reached.
In the nine months since September
11, a new definition of "political correctness" has emerged. Whether you
view so-called "pc-ism" as good or bad is up to you, of course. Throughout
this summer, I'd like to focus on how political correctness affects our
society, taking a look at both the good and the bad. Today, we'll start
with the bad.
In the three years since debuting
with The Slim Shady LP, Eminem has attempted to kill the notion that white
artists can't rap; antagonized countless activist groups; railed against
various family members; and reveled in vitriolic and misogynistic lyrics,
all the while selling millions of albums to mainstream America.
