It's been more than nine months since Sept. 11, and even as partisan politics, corporate scandal, and surprising U.S. soccer victories dominate the headlines, most of us still realize that we face, in the words of countless politicians, a "clear and present danger." It is this danger which led President Bush to embark upon a new era in foreign policy: preemption.

Yeah, I know it's summertime and all, but even if this is the best film of late, Minority Report isn't Steven Spielberg's best of what he's done, and hopefully of what he can do.
