Every dog has
its day: Paul Pease, director of student affairs at the College of
Optometry, helps Stella, his 2-year-old border collie mix, cool off on
a hot Sunday afternoon.
Leaks in the roof, an uneven floor
and the need for a new grease trap were the major "surprises" that have
impeded project completion.
It's been more than nine months
since Sept. 11, and even as partisan politics, corporate scandal, and surprising
U.S. soccer victories dominate the headlines, most of us still realize
that we face, in the words of countless politicians, a "clear and present
danger." It is this danger which led President Bush to embark upon a new
era in foreign policy: preemption.
Yeah, I know it's summertime and
all, but even if this is the best film of late, Minority Report isn't Steven
Spielberg's best of what he's done, and hopefully of what he can do.
The Houston baseball team continues
to receive much-deserved honors for its outstanding teammates this season,
even after losing to Texas in the NCAA Super Regionals in Austin July 9.
