All-stars in training: Junior engineering
major Austin Faught tosses a ball during Baseball Camp at the track field
along Elgin Street.
Faught is also a pitcher on the Cougar baseball team that advanced
to the NCAA Super Regionals earlier in the summer.
After being pulled over by a Houston
Police Department patrol car on his way to work in the early hours of a
November night, Byron Gillum was shot dead five minutes later on University
grounds.
That's right. Those of you who
wander on past Butler Plaza during the first week of school this fall are
in for a special treat. Thanks to a ruling by U.S. District Judge Ewing
Werlein Jr., the student group Pro-Life Cougars can now display images
of aborted fetuses as part of their anti-abortion protests on campus.
For Green Day, fighting off the
scowls and smirks of their punk rock peers from the early 1990s has been
nothing less than a personal vendetta.
The Astros seem to have finally
found the momentum they've been searching for since (without trying to
sound too dramatic) Opening Day. The only problem is that they had to take
three days off during the All-Star break.
