Welcome
change this semester
Welcome back to another semester at UH.
Welcome back to no parking, overpriced books, long lines for food, overpriced
food, people on cell
phones, miserably dense traffic, huge
classes, construction in the middle of campus and rude drivers, passengers
and pedestrians. Welcome
back to campus bookstore employees who
work for evil conglomerates just out to take money from poor college students,
who never buy books
back unless it's for pennies on the dollar
and then sell them for 50 times their worth -- a little slice of home.
Corporations
overpower humans
Prior to 1886, the entities known as corporations
did not have the same rights as individual people. The first corporations,
created in the 1600s,
had very limited charters and were answerable
to the government and the people; if a corporation displeased enough people
or ceased to
serve the public interest, its charter
could be revoked.
UH
'subsidy' remains a mystery
The "break" is over already? Yes, it's
time to begin a new year and a new semester.
