Wednesday's Faculty Senate meeting turned out to be quite eventful, and not just because it featured the passing of the
gavel from H. Jerome Freiberg to incoming president Joseph Eichberg.
 

Revisions to election code pass SGA senate

Student Government Association senators' approval of 10 amendments to the election code increased members' hopes that the Spring 2002 elections will appear cleaner than those held last year. But issues like voter fraud and the misuse of SGA funds for party campaigning went unaddressed in the legislation passed Wednesday.
 

UH apathetic about liquor ads

A move by NBC to place hard liquor ads on a major network for the first time in more than 50 years has stirred, but not
shaken, the public. Criticism among consumer groups and participants in a national poll has not shaken some marketers of
distilled spirits from a crusade to the airwaves. And not all UH students are objecting.
 

Septimus, others give testimony at trial

During Wednesday's testimony in a federal civil trial against the University and the UH System, former UH assistant general
counsel Susan Septimus described, sometimes tearfully, the events surrounding her claims that officials retaliated against
her for filing a series of complaints against UH General Counsel Dennis Duffy in 1998. She further claims the alleged
retaliation ultimately forced her to resign.
