If new releases don't float your boat, try old classics

The Best Videos You're Not Renting

Becky Proctor

All movies are not worth the $7.50, bad seats and stale popcorn to be able to watch them in theaters, but $2 for an evening at home with a rental
sounds tempting.

National Lampoon's Animal House, which stars the late John Belushi (above), serves as a worthy alternative to the new comedy rentals on
shelves today.

With the high volume of movies in the rental stores, it is difficult to choose the right flick. Many opt for new releases because of misinformation
about good movies. Don't rush past the older movies to struggle to find an in-stock new release. There are many older movies in stock to attract
any audience.

Comedy lovers do not need to flock to the video stores to pick up American Pie 2 with Jason Biggs. National Lampoon's Animal House with
comedy legend John Belushi is a worthy replacement. Animal House has the same raunchy comedy and can produce big laughs.

The story takes place on a college campus when a group of losers join a crew of misfits and sociopaths eager to disrupt the norm. Belushi's
portrayal of Bluto Blutarsky as the alcoholic seventh-year senior is memorable. In all, Animal House is a sidesplitting comedy, sure to remind you
of your freshman adventures as a Cougar.

If you are more of a scary movie buff, there are a variety of films to ignite your passion. Skip new release Jeepers Creepers with Gina Phillips and
Jonathan Breck and pick up an Alfred Hitchcock classic. He has an assortment of horrors designed to frighten his audience.

The Birds is a cult classic. The story focuses on Tippi Hedren's character, who is constantly attacked by flocks of birds after she purchases a pair
of lovebirds. This movie will have you ducking your head every time you see a bird.

Hitchcock's other horror films, Rebecca, Psycho! and Notorious, are also notable. Hitchcock will definitely encourage you to keep the light on at
night.

Action movies are popular and easy to find in the video store, but skip The Fast and the Furious and rush over to pick up a movie from the
Indiana Jones collection with Harrison Ford.

Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom or The Last Crusade are packed with action. They are a series of stories about an archeologist who
loves the challenge of a conquest. During Indy's pursuits, he always finds trouble everywhere -- from a ghost to a satanic cult -- but always gets
the treasure and the girl. The collection will take you back to your childhood, when you imitated Ford's dangerous clashes.

With Valentine's Day approaching, many couples are searching for the perfect date movie. For the couple wanting to snuggle up on love day,
leave Moulin Rouge at the video stores and watch West Side Story.

This classic is a modern-day Romeo and Juliet set in the tenements of New York City. It is a story of the forbidden love between a gang leader's
sister and a rival gang member. West Side Story is a musical, but the songs only enhance the beauty of the story.

Take the time this weekend to broaden your exposure to movies. If you are already a film guru, then simply catch up with a new look at an old film.
