Erasure, Deadman hit Houston By Shiley Carter
Remember the great days of the late 1980s and early '90s when the music was a conglomeration of dance and synth-pop harmonies? Depeche Mode ruled the music scene and then Erasure took a stand with their best-selling album The Innocents. Take a trip down memory lane, relive the '80s (or for some of you, experience it for the first time) and go to Numbers tonight. Erasure will take the stage and bring all their synthesized pop ballads with them to liven up a crowd that never wanted to let go of the decade so many gladly put behind them. If you desire something a little heavier, check out Shadows Fall at the Engine Room on Friday night.
Theory of a Deadman, guitarist Dave Brenner (left), frontman Tyler Connolly, bassist Dean Back and drummer Tim Hart, will play with Goneblind and Swelter on Saturday at the Engine Room in support of their self-titled debut album. Daniel Moss/Roadrunner Records Playing with Blood Has Been Shed, Eighteen Visions and Unearth, the band is touring and promoting their third album, The Art of Balance.
Shadows Fall has toured with Hatebreed, Kittie and Glassjaw, and they claim their music reaches that "often-desired-yet-rarely-obtained equilibrium" of sonic brutality and beauty. Also playing Friday night are Shawn Pander on the Kemah Boardwalk, The Magdalene at the Side Car Pub and Eye Against, The Colour Clear, Will to Live and the Tie that Binds at Fitzgerald's. Saturday you can get down to the beats of DJ Krush at the Rhythm Room or jam to the hard-hitting riffs of Theory of a Deadman at the Engine Room. Theory of a Deadman will be playing with well-known rock band Goneblind, and Swelter and Deiristic will open the show. The Last Concert Café will have Peach Truck Republic playing for their crowd, while Fitzgerald's upstairs stage will be host to Satellite Season, Deep 6, Laden and Noise Playground. Downstairs at Fitzgerald's on Saturday night Wristpin will rule the stage. With influences taken from Mudvayne and Tool, you are sure to be doing some moshing to this band's music.
