Arts & Entertainment George's caters to budget By Terrence Persaud
Westheimer Street is well-known for its hip and happening inhabitants, and thereis no difference when it comes to its eating establishments. Yet, many times patrons of the street still feel like theyive been ripped off because they paid too much money for a small quantity of food. However, there is a place on Westheimer that lives up to the hype and delivers a very satisfying and reasonably priced meal (great for the budget of a struggling college student). It is an authentic Italian-American restaurant called Georgeis Pastaria. "Itis a casual dining establishment with really good food," waiter Ryan Triner said. "We donit just cater to upscale people; itis nothing like that." Georgeis offers a wide variety of food to satisfy everyoneis taste buds, including pasta, salad and pizza. Georgeis is also quick to alter most of the dishes to suit the needs of vegetarians. This feature is extremely flexible for large groups of people. The quality of food at Georgeis is one of a kind. One can actually taste the freshness in the food and they give you a very large serving. The dishes are moderately priced. You can sit down and order $10 to $15 worth of food -- one dish -- and not be hungry for the rest of the day. My friend and I ate for $20, including tip, and left full and satisfied. Some restaurant favorites are the Penne Rene priced at $10.25, Chicken A la George for $11.50 and Ziti Campagnolo for $10.25. "Itis a nice, relaxing, inexpensive place to eat," Triner said. George's Pastaria 7609 Westheimer St. The verdict: Georgeis offers cheap food with a hip atmosphere and has some of the best pizza in Houston. Send comments to dcshobiz@mail.uh.edu |
