Pearl Jam, Osbourne slated to hit scene By Shiley Carter
The Riot Act Tour is stealing the spotlight for this weekendis performances. Pearl Jam, the famous grunge-rock band of the 90s, will play at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on Sunday night.
The band skipped Houston for years while on previous tours in protest of Ticketmasteris ticket prices, but finally hit the Bayou City a couple of years ago, when the sold-out show proved that the price of the tickets didnit affect the fansi desire to see them perform. Friday night, national act Sum 41, along with No Use For A Name, The Starting Line and Authority Zero will play at the Verizon Wireless Theater. While Houstonians get amped up to see Ozzy Osbourne at this yearis Ozzfest, you can check out his offspring Saturday night. Kelly Osbourne will be attempting her chance at fame at Numbers. Locally, Houston venues are packed full of great shows both Friday and Saturday night. Beginning with the Will To Live CD release party at Fitzgeraldis, Eyeagainst, Pride Kills, Blood Ties, Die Young and Black Child Avatar will open the show. The Engine Room will feature Tool-influenced four-piece rock band Abasia, along with Strate Up, Sadbert, ModernDayJohn, Laden and Feeding 5000. Slop Jar Jr. will play at the Hard Rock Café while Fallen Line and South will lay down the heavy rock roots of Houston at the Rhythm Room. Saturday night, Noise Playground, The Remote Junkies and Saint Cannabis will pack fans into the 19th Hole. Ted Roddyis King Conjure is playing at the Continental Club. Houstonis very own Faceplant will be partying and performing with the upbeat and smooth flowing sounds of Simpleton at Fitz on Saturday. Downfall, American Tragedy and Alligator Dave will open the night. The Engine Room will host Red Sky, Walking 49, The Clarity, Carmaci and Overshot. Enjoy the national acts but donit forget to support your local bands. Send comments to dcshobiz@mail.uh.edu |
