News U.S. lawyer discusses Iran-Contra Cougar News Services As a State Department lawyer, Abraham D. Sofaer was in the middle of one of the nationis most controversial foreign affairs activities the Iran-Contra Affair, and heill be at UH to discuss remedies to that national blunder on Monday. Sofaeris UH Law Center lecture, "In the Best Tradition of the Profession: Undoing Iran Contra," is free and open to the public as a part of the law schoolis Doherty Chair Ethics Series. During the investigation of the Iran-Contra Affair, in which former President Ronald Reagan allowed U.S. arms to be given to Iranian rebels in exchange for the release of American hostages, Sofaer urged honest testimony from the CIA director who worked closely on the project. The lecture will be held at noon at the Law Centeris Hendricks Heritage
Room.
